A non-profit helping to sustainably reduce the spread of COVID and other diseases

THE CHALLENGE

On average, we touch our face 23 times/hour while awake, add that to the number of times we touch a door handle in between, it's no wonder research shows that contamination of a single doorknob can help spread germs throughout hotels, office buildings, and health care facilities.

Unfortunately, many COVID safety measures came with a significant environmental cost.  The world has seen a sharp increase of single use disposables with the pandemic.

THE SOLUTION

We have extensively researched, 3D printed, tested, and where required made modifications or created new designs and catalogued the most effective and practical ANDS FREE solutions that will fit most doors (taking into consideration ease of installation, functionality, and printing time).

Responding to community feedback, we've also created the unique HANDS FREE Shopping Cart (HFSC). A versatile solution that adjusts to various heights of users, can be customized to fit any shopping cart and handle design, and ensures that the carts can be stacked as they normally would.

WHAT WE HOPE TO
ACCOMPLISH
  • Provide solutions that eliminate direct hand/finger contact with surfaces, including door handles and shopping carts, and simultaneously reduce single use disposables consumption by using our HANDS FREE solutions.

  • To directly print and install the HANDS FREE door openers on as many doors as possible.

  • Inspire and work with others to do the same around the world and help four communities reopen safely and sustainably.

ABOUT US

HANDS FREE is a non-profit volunteer run project that wants to do it’s part to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 (and other infectious diseases as well) by focusing on providing solutions to address high-touch surfaces we interact with regularly, like door handles and shopping carts.

HANDS FREE has chapters in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE, Mexico, Honduras, the USA, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Japan.

The team behind it are young volunteers throughout the world whose aim is to help do their small part for their communities by trying to minimize the spread of COVID-19.

My name is Faisal AlFozan, a student at BBS. I founded this project to help do my small part for my community to try and minimize the spread of COVID-19.
